This is definitively the greatest piece of classical music for a winter drive

Wagner driving

Hitting the road this season? We reckon the grand sound of a full orchestra with one of Wagner’s most inspired moments is just what you need.

The perfect winter's drive needs some great music - so we've teamed up with Halfords to make sure you hit the road with a good classical tune. After extensive symphonic research, we reckon the first thing to get onto your car stereo is the epic overture to Wagner's Tannhäuser.

The tempo is a gentle andante, immediately bringing stately calm as you hit the road. Expansive and expressive woodwind sets up Wagner's classic tune (sing-alongs are encouraged), but it doesn't take long for it to really open up...

After a few minutes of slow crescendo, Wagner's overture comes alive with majestic cascading figures in the strings and that rampant choral theme in full brass. Add some great countryside to drive through, and we guarantee a truly epic winter's journey.
