What does a titanium violin sound like?

This is the world’s first and only violin made from titanium, and it sounds awesome.

Until now, a titanium violin has never existed, but somebody out there thought there was a market for one.

In the video above, the violinist – Rob Landes on YouTube – plays the instrument both acoustically and electrically, in a face-melting loop pedal cover of Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ (we can’t help thinking he should’ve chosen ‘Titanium’ by Sia, but we’ll let that one go…).

Normally, violins are made from a handful of different types of wood – a hardwood bridge attached to a spruce soundboard, on top of a hardwood frame – and the fingerboard is made of ebony. But apart from the bridge, this one is made out of 100 percent high-strength titanium.

Cue badass titanium stage face…
