Join Classic FM at the York Festival of Ideas

This June, come to the York Festival of Ideas, for brilliant music and insightful talks from a host of fascinating people.

Classic FM is to partner with the York Festival of Ideas, now in its sixth year. Organised by York University, last year’s event was attended by more than 30,000 pepole.

The theme of the 2016 festival is ‘Tick Tock’ – a title which encompasses a talk on the US Board of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists Doomsday Clock and a performance of organ vespers among 150 other events.

Classic FM’s More Music Breakfast presenter, Tim Lihoreau will be a keynote speaker exploring the invention of a brand new language for classical music at a talk on Friday 10 June, Classic FM’s Managing Editor Sam Jackson will interview the much-loved composer Sir Karl Jenkins at the final festival event on 19 June.

Other headline speakers will include former Chancellor of the Exchequer Lord Lawson; former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Yvette Cooper MP; comedian Sara Pascoe; economist John Kay; journalists Owen Jones, Zoe Williams, David Aaronovitch, Stephanie Flanders and Rachel Sylvester and the Director General of Amnesty International Italy, Gianni Rufini.
