The Brighton Youth Orchestra String Ensemble at the Schools Prom

As the Music For Youth Schools Prom gets under way, Classic FM's Tim Lihoreau has been chatting to some of the performers backstage at the Royal Albert Hall. Here he meets members of the Brighton Youth Orchestra String Ensemble.

This string ensemble is one of the ensembles of Brighton and Hove Music and Arts. Formed by Andrew Sherwood in 1994,
they were proud last year to perform for Nick Gibb (minister of Schools) in London at Parliament as part of an advocacy campaign by the National Federation of Music Services.

The ensemble works collaboratively with the University of Brighton. One of their best known fans is Bob Hoskins who fondly refers to it as ‘my band’.

Classic FM's Tim Lihoreau sat down with the ensemble before their performance at the Music For Youth Schools Prom. They told Tim about their repertoire, music tastes and unusual onstage footwear.
