Great music teachers deserve recognition. If you know somebody who fits the bill, we want to know about them. Download an application form below and nominate them for Music Teacher of the Year.

Music teacher

Do you know of a music teacher who makes learning truly exciting?

For 20 years, the prestigious Classic FM's Music Teacher of the Year Awards has recognised and rewarded those teachers who have made a real difference to the musical life of young people. Now, ahead of the station’s 25th birthday year, Classic FM has teamed up with digital piano manufacturer Casio and exam board ABRSM to undertake the UK’s biggest ever celebration of outstanding music education.

We'd like you to nominate a special music teacher. There are five categories: Primary, Secondary, Peripatetic, Special Education Needs and Lifetime Achievement. Mercury-nominated singer Laura Mvula, herself a former music teacher, will join Classic FM, Casio and ABRSM on a panel of expert industry judges, to select the winner from each award category.

Each of the five winners will receive a Celviano Grand Hybrid by Casio for themselves, their schools or music services. The Awards will be presented at The Barbican Centre, the UK's largest hub for classical and contemporary arts, on 7th July 2017.

Laura Mvula came into the studio to perform a song from her latest album, on the Casio Celviano Grand Hybrid, to celebrate the launch of this year's competition:
