Stephen Layton was inspired by choral music when he was young - now he's 'spreading the gospel of good music' to students and encouraging everybody to sing.

Winner of Gramophone's Choral Award with the Choir of Trinity College College Cambridge, Stephen Layton, shared his vision for choral music with us at this year's Gramophone Awards.

"Not everybody can win the gold medal for the hundred metres, as we saw happening in the Olympics, but everybody can run, and I think this is the same thing with singing," he said. "Not everybody could be in a choir that is as expert as one of these great Cambridge choirs, but nevertheless they could be in their local choir singing and having a lot of fun together."

He has an unwavering faith in students, and he's set up a little celebration for his choir back in Cambridge.
