Classic BRIT Awards 2012 winners announced

The 2012 Classic BRIT Awards winners are announced, including two awards for film composer John Williams.

The winners in the 2012 Classic BRIT Awards have been announced at London's Royal Albert Hall, with film composer John Williams bagging two of the evening's most prestigious awards - Composer Of The Year and the Lifetime Achievement award.

Other winners on the night included Gareth Malone and the Military Wives who won Single Of The Year, Nicola Benedetti for Female Artist and Vasily Petrenko for Male Artist. The Classic FM Album Of The Year gong went to André Rieu for 'And The Waltz Goes On', voted for by the public.

Newer artists were also honoured at the ceremony, hosted by Myleene Klass, including pianist Benjamin Grosvenor scooping the Critics' Award for his album of Chopin, Liszt and Ravel and guitarist Miloš Karadaglić won the Breakthrough Artist award for his album 'Latino'.

Legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli won the award for International Artist Of The Year, as well as performing on the night. Other performers at the ceremony included Gary Barlow, The Military Wives, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Nicola Benedetti, André Rieu and Russell Watson.
