Brighton Festival 2014

Brighton Festival is an annual celebration of music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film, literature, debate, outdoor and family events - taking place in venues both familiar and unusual across Brighton & Hove for three weeks every May.

Now in its 48th year, Brighton Festival is an innovative commissioning and producing festival, which continues to win critical acclaim for its ambitious and daring programme. As England's biggest curated mixed arts festival, Brighton Festival attracts some of the innovative artists and companies (and some of the most adventurous audiences) from the UK and around the world.

This year’s Guest Director is Hofesh Shechter. Recognised as one of the UK’s most exciting contemporary artists, Shechter is renowned for creating raw, physical contemporary dance pieces set to his own highly charged musical scores. His eponymous Company’s brand new work Sun (co-commissioned by Brighton Festival) will open our three week arts celebration on Sat 3 May when it comes ‘home’ at the conclusion of its first world tour.

Classical music highlights this year include New London Consort’s celebration of Shakespeare's play, The Tempest in Musick (Fri 16 May) and conductor John Wilson who makes his Brighton Festival debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra (Sat 24 May).

Brighton Festival runs from 3 - 25 May 2014 and takes place at various venues across the city. Tickets and more information are available from the Brighton Festival website brightonfestival.org.
