The Times' Richard Morrison: 'orchestras are homogenised'

Classical critic for The Times Richard Morrison told Classic FM that international orchestras are all beginning to sound the same.

Speaking to Classic FM's John Brunning, Morrison followed up comments he made last year in a controversial Times article:

"The world is a homogenised place now, and that applies to orchestras as much as anyone else."

Morrison attributed this to international travel and the frequency of international conductors working with orchestras all over the world, among other things, commenting:

"When you hear a Russian orchestra you want to be able to hear that it's distinctly Russian."
