Japanese rock star and classical crossover artist Yoshiki has surprised audiences at the annual SXSW music conference by playing a piano duet with a hologram version of himself.

The composer, who released his first album of classical compositions last year, was attending the conference in Austin, Texas, to spread the word about his forthcoming world tour, which kicks off in April.

The video, recorded last week, shows a hologram of Yoshiki take to the stage and address the audience and starting to play his piece 'Out Of Life'. The 'real' Yoshiki then joins his hologram on stage and the two begin an aggressive duet.

Yoshiki's world tour begins in April, but he will make it to the UK for one show at London's Royal Festival Hall on May 28th.
