Williams most prolific Movie Chart composer

John Williams is the most featured composer in the 2010 Movie Music Chart, as voted for by Classic FM listeners and readers. The prolific American composer has 16 entries in the Chart.

Williams’ highest entry in the Chart is his soundtrack to Star Wars, at number three. He has three further entries in the top ten: Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Other iconic films for which John Williams has written music include ET, Superman, Indiana Jones and some of the Harry Potter films, all of which feature in the Chart.

John Williams trained as a pianist in Los Angeles before being drafted into the US Air Force, where he conducted and arranged music for the Air Force band. He then worked as a pianist for movie music giants including Waxman, Mancini and Newman, before achieving breakthrough with his music for the television shows Wagon Train and Lost in Space.
