Schumann’s glorious Cello Concerto is a tough nut to crack, although you’d never know it listening to Mørk’s impassioned performance, enhanced by the deft accompaniment of Paavo Järvi who blows any notion of Schumann being a poor orchestrator clean away. Of the pairings, Bruch’s Kol Nidrei and Bloch’s Schelomo may not be quite of the same musical quality but you’ll be hard-pressed to find better performances than these.
