Apres un reve (Opus 7 No.1) Gabriel Faure
Exuberant piano playing is at the centre of these pieces.
Repertoire: Piano Trios Nos 1 & 2
Artists: Storiono Trio Amsterdam

You have to marvel at Schubert’s ability to compose two of his finest chamber pieces, which sing with a beautiful lightness of spirit, when he was depressed, dejected and in the final year of his life. The exuberance of the piano playing is complemented by the subtly poetic cello response, creating an uplifting, joyous musical conversation in the Piano Trio No.1 in B flat. For the E flat Piano Trio No.2, Schubert is again influenced by song – a beautiful folk ballad inspires a heart-yearning andante that reoccurs in the Finale. Outstanding playing from one of Europe’s foremost trios emphasises the scope of musical imagination behind these works.
