Dvořák: Symphonies - Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra/Serebrier

Classic FM Drive Featured Album, 15 June 2015

Following his successful cycle of Glazunov symphonies with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the complete Glazunov concertos with the Russian National Orchestra, the great Uruguayan conductor Jose Serebrier has spent the past four years diving deep into the symphonies of Antonin Dvořák with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Dvořák wrote his nine symphonies over thirty years and Serebrier’s affection for the full range of emotions and moods the composer covers is tangible. With this series, he demonstrates that he has a special feeling for central European and particularly Dvořák’s music. His approach is always scrupulously considered, intelligent and insightful, and variously thrilling, atmospheric, warm and expressive.

The recording quality is exceptionally lavish, richly capturing the superb orchestral playing from Classic FM's Orchestra in the South of England.
