This pianist’s jazz version of a Chopin Étude is both ingenious and groovy

One of Chopin’s most enduring études, Op. 10 No. 12, is given an unexpectedly jazzy treatment in this performance from pianist Michal Šupák.
When a musician feels comfortable with a piece of music, it can be tempting to monkey around with your interpretation. Pianist Michal Šupák clearly felt at home with Chopin’s mighty étude op. 10 no. 12 (otherwise known as the ‘Revolutionary’ étude), and turned it into a jazzy workout.
We think he definitely earned his standing ovation.
