Discovering Busnois' split musical personality

Orlando Consort reveal two very different, but equally as compelling to the 15th century French composer Antoine Busnois

Label: Harm Mundi HMU 907333

By choosing its repertoire wisely, the Orlando Consort here shows two contrasting yet equally attractive sides to the musical character of Antoine Busnois. The French composer, employed at the Burgundian court in the 1470s, had the gift for writing energetic, exciting secular chansons and monumental sacred works, few more imposing than the Mass O Crux lignum that supplies the meat of this programme. An ideal introduction for newcomers to this ancient music.
