Terry Gilliam "loses sleep over opera"

Terry Gilliam has admitted that making his new opera, The Damnation of Faust, has been one of the scariest things he’s ever done.

Gilliam's first foray into the world of opera is a production for English National Opera, which opens at the Coliseum this week.

In an interview with Nick Ferrari, Gilliam says: “For the last year I’ve lost more sleep over this than anything I’ve ever done… I’ve never done opera. I’m in a world that is full of opera goers who know what opera is supposed to be.”

Gilliam also reveals his favourite Monty Python sketch and what he thinks of John Cleese.

You can hear the full interview with Terry Gilliam on The Classic FM Interview on Sunday 8 May from 7pm.

Terry Gilliam’s The Damnation of Faust runs from May 6 to June 7.
