Steve Reich’s Piano Phase arranged for two Game Boys is pretty mesmerising

An American classic gets the chip tune treatment, and we love it - listen to a Reich masterpiece re-arranged for two Game Boys.

Steve Reich is the undisputed master of phasing. Give him a straight rhythm, he’ll mess it up and destroy your brain in excruciating detail.

Often, he uses acoustic instruments and human performers to achieve his dazzling effects, but some bright person has re-arranged Reich’s seminal Piano Phase for two Game Boy consoles.

The effect is quite haunting and, when they occasionally sync-up, punch-the-air triumphant.
