Royal Scottish National Orchestra announce exciting 2012/13 season

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Classic FM's Orchestra in Scotland, has announced an exciting new 2012/13 season along with a new artistic team.

Peter Oundjian succeeds Stéphane Denève as Music Director, while Thomas Søndergård joins as Principal Guest Conductor for the orchestra's 121st Season.

Season highlights include a performance of Shostakovich's 11th symphony; a two-part American Music Festival and Mendelssohn’s haunting oratorio Elijah with Sir Andrew Davis. The season will conclude with a spectacular Finale Gala featuring solo violinist Nicola Benedetti performing a double bill of Vaughan Williams The Lark Ascending and Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo capriccioso.

Benedetti is just one of many guest soloists joining the RSNO for this season, with violinist Vadim Gluzman, pianist John Lill and British baritone Roderick Williams also among the names.
