Under the direction of Tugan Sokhiev, the Orchestre National du Capitole du Toulouse has become one of the most revered orchestras in France and across Europe, with the French national paper 'Le Figaro' naming them as one of the three top orchestras in France.

Their eagerly-awaited upcoming UK tour is set to see them begin 2012 in stunning fashion. The concerts will see the orchestra performing a rich programme made up of French and Russian masterpieces including Debussy’s Prélude à l'après midi d'un faune, Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances and a rare performance of Saint-Saens’ superb third violin concerto.

Tim Lihoreau caught up with the orchestra's leader Genevieve Laurenceau about the tour, the joys of Stradivarius violins and her role as artistic director of the Obernai music festival.
