José Carreras and Nicoletta Mantovani: Pavarotti "wanted to bring opera all over the world"

Pavarotti's widow Nicoletta, escorted by former member of The Three Tenors, José Carreras, celebrate the late tenor's life and legacy.

Luciano Pavarotti was due to collect the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Classic BRITs six years ago, but illness prevented him from accepting the award in person.

Now, his former Three Tenors colleague José Carreras has interrupted his world tour to present the posthumous award to Pavarotti's widow, Nicoletta Mantovani.

"He wanted to bring opera all over the world," says Nicoletta. "He is still here - when you hear his voice he is still with us."

Lucy Coward caught up with them on the red carpet as they arrived at the Classic BRIT Awards, and the pair revealed exactly how much this award would have meant to the late singer.
