Katherine Jenkins showcases some of the most beautiful operatic pieces, sung by some of the world’s most brilliant voices.
Some operas are specifically designed by the composer to stretch the human voice to its limits. The “bel canto” style of opera literally means “beautiful singing”. 'Perhaps the greatest opera within the Bel Canto tradition is Norma by Bellini,' says Katherine, 'and the title role is one of the most difficult in the whole soprano repertoire.' In Norma's showpiece aria, the priestess sings a prayer to the chaste goddess (casta diva) to let the beautiful new moon shine upon the earth and bestow upon her courage and faith.
