Joshua Bell and Academy of St. Martin in the Fields are Classic FM’s Artists in Residence

Violinist Joshua Bell and his orchestra, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, will be Classic FM’s first ever Artists in Residence.

The partnership will run for 12 months from September 2015, and will culminate in Joshua Bell leading the Academy at Classic FM Live in September 2016.

Bell and his orchestra will also be recording an exclusive series of concerts for The Full Works Concert on Classic FM.

A legendary violinist from a young age, Joshua Bell has become one of the most respected musicians of his generation. He was appointed Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in 2011, a post previously held by another musical legend, Sir Neville Marriner.

It’s the first time Classic FM has appointed an Artist in Residence, and the first appointment of this kind since Composer in Residence Howard Goodall departed to focus on composing music for Bend It Like Beckham: The Musical.
