Joana Carneiro conducted the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Classic FM Live last night. Classic FM's Tim Lihoreau caught up with her backstage.
The Lisbon-born conductor has attracted considerable attention as one of the most outstanding young conductors working today. She is about to begin her third season as Music Director of the Berkeley Symphony, making her only the third music director in the orchestra's 40 year history.
Having just returned from her honeymoon, Joana guest conducted the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at Classic FM Live, leading the likes of Charlie Siem, Benjamin Grosvenor and Noah Stewart through a series of beautiful pieces including Elgar's Nimrod , Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture , Prokofiev's The Montagues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet, Puccini's Recondita Armonia from Tosca and Gerswhin's Rhapsody in Blue.
Tim Lihoreau caught up with Joana backstage at the Royal Albert Hall ahead of the concert.
