Hayley Westenra on Paradiso and rugby

Hayley Westenra has been in the music business for more than 10 years, recorded a host of albums and performed for Kings, Queens, Presidents and Prime Ministers around the world. So it might come as a surprise that she’s just 24 years old.

The young New Zealander has just released her latest album, Paradiso, which features arrangements of music by Ennio Morricone. She popped into the Classic FM studio to tell Lucy Coward about her collaboration with the Italian film composer, now aged 82, which began with a visit to Rome last year.

Recently announced as the voice of ITV’s Rugby World Cup coverage, we also took the opportunity to ask Hayley about her role in an important event for her nation.
