Exciting times for the Fron

It’s been an exciting 24 hours for the Fron Male Voice Choir: along with being nominated for the NS&I Album of the Year Classical BRIT Award, it has also announced the appointment of a new Music Director, Leigh Mason.

Leigh met with the Fron Choir last night for her first full rehearsal and to celebrate the nomination of ‘Voices of the Valley – Memory Lane’ for a Classical BRIT Award. She officially takes up her position on 1 March.

Leigh joins the men at an exciting time. The Choir has a busy concert schedule and more recordings planned, and is in consultation with filmmakers regarding a proposed film charting the Choir’s rise to stardom.

The choir will also perform at Joe Calzaghe’s Gala Dinner at Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 22 March, to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes.

A teacher at Helsby High School, Leigh Mason studied Music at the University of Wales at Bangor and has sung in choirs since primary school, including the National Youth Choir and the Sirenian Singers. She currently directs several ensembles, including the string orchestra at Helsby High School, local amateur groups in musicals and Mold Choral Society.
