The American pianist opened his residency at the Barbican with cellist Yo-Yo Ma in February. He has chosen to feature music by composers Robert Schumann and Frédéric Chopin in all three concerts in celebration of their 200th birthdays.

Aside from Schumann’s Fantasiestucke and three Chopin mazurkas, Ax’s solo recital on 5 March will feature the UK premiere of Three Mazurkas by Thomas Adès, co-commissioned by the Barbican. On 12 March, Ax and fellow American Dawn Upshaw will perform works including Chopin’s Polish Songs Opus 74, Schumann’s In der Fremde and also Stephen Prutsman’s Piano Lessons.

Tickets can be purchased via the Barbican’s website.
